Pernod Ricard Channel Meeting
Onyx were yet again asked to bring the off-trade drinks team together for their yearly gathering to include some outdoor entertaining and business meetings over a three-day period. Onyx worked with the senior management team to create a “Wow” factor event.
Many venues across the UK and Scotland was selected and presented to the Channel Director and the Senior Management Team.
Plymouth was chosen due to Pernod Ricard having the Plymouth Gin Distillery based there. As Plymouth is slightly further away to get to from London the decision was to add another day on. The delegates arrived at the hotel in the afternoon of the Wednesday and they were transported to the local rounders pitch in central park. The sun was shining brightly and the delegates had a fantastic afternoon of playing rounders and lawn games. They were a very competitive bunch!
Their evening meal was booked in at the Royal William Yard, which is an award-winning Grade 1 listed ex-Naval victualling yard in Plymouth and is home to a stunning range of leading restaurants, bars, galleries and shops. They had an exclusive room hired with their own bar and choice of tasty tapas.
The following morning the delegates got up early and strolled down to the Barbican Marina, where they had a ferry waiting for them to take them across to Mount Batten where they had their morning meeting followed by an afternoon of water activities. Again, they were blessed with the beautiful weather, lots of sun cream was used that day!
The team was split up into two groups and some enjoyed a kayaking adventure and the other half enjoyed a paddle boarding excursion, after lunch on the waterfront the teams rotated. The fun filled day was finished with a Jumbo Paddleboard race which was extremely funny with people falling into the water! Lots of laughter all round!
The team, were then whisked off to the Plymouth Gin Distillery for a tour. They were also treated to a tasty Plymouth gin and tonic at The Refectory bar, which is Grade II* listed and dates back some 500 years! They also offer world class cocktails!
After some much-needed R&R they walked to the Barbican Harbour from their hotel and again had exclusive use of a lovely room with a private balcony overlooking the marina. In between courses the delegates enjoyed a bespoke interactive quiz and won prizes at the end. There were a lot of laughs and drinks flowing throughout this and some even used the microphone for a quick karaoke session at the end of the evening!
Finally, on the last day the delegates had their concluding meeting for the event and everyone was given a delicious packed lunch to take with them on their journey home.
Onyx have received some lovely verbal and written thank you’s for the event. They were extremely lucky with the glorious sunshine which lasted the three days too! The debrief is booked in and we can start a brainstorming session for the next one.
