Together with our client the theme ‘Celebrate Our People’ was born and Onyx was tasked to create a conference around this.
2017 was a year of acute uncertainty for many. Bunzl wanted to celebrate the strength of their business and their success in such a difficult economic climate. And that success would not have been possible without the time, effort and extreme dedication of their entire team comprising of employees, suppliers and stakeholders.
Onyx commissioned the beautiful Beaumont Estate in Windsor as the perfect venue for this event. Its size, accessibility, and beauty made it a really unique venue for such a large group. There were 450 delegates and suppliers invited to this conference.
Onyx manage all aspects of the event pre, during and post event.
Beaumont Estate was chosen as the venue for this years conference, with over 400 rooms and expansive grounds and event spaces the venue worked perfectly for us.
The day began with a plenary session with a fantastic guest speaker Gyles Brandreth. Gyles, is a famously vivacious host, author and ex MP and he added humour and levity to the plenary session. Gyles is well known for his string of appearances on the comedy panel show, ‘Have I got News for you’. His personable style, professionalism, and association with the program, meant that he was the perfect host to ‘Bunzl’s Got News For You’ comedy panel show spoof.
After the plenary they broke off into their individual businesses BCS, Lockhart, BSB, Tristar & WKT all having to take time out of the day to make their way round the five supplier villages. The supplier villages were set up within the grounds of Beaumont Estate. Onyx chose to engage the delegates by introducing an interactive voting session where they had to vote for their favourite supplier using Sli.do
The evenings entertainment took on the theme of a masquerade ball. Delegates donned masks and all their finery. They had free reign of the hotels ground floor which was adorned with Venetian decor. Guests were welcomed to pre dinner drinks by a human Champagne table, this unique way of serving Champagne certainly had guests in awe and was a talking point throughout the evening. A three course dinner was followed by a celebration of everyone’s hard work and dedication throughout the year with an awards ceremony.
This years awards were a special commission which was displayed on stage to the unknown eye as a piece of art which broke down into individual awards. The awards were made from old skateboard bases and promoted the message of recycling and sustainability which echos Bunzl’s ethos of a sustainable future.
Once the awards ceremony concluded guests were invited to the dance floor where they were entertained until the early hours by a five piece band.
A successful conference and great celebration of all the people that make the cogs turn within the Bunzl empire.
